Candidate Walkthrough
We built SkillsProject to give you a fair shot—by letting your work speak for itself. This isn’t a trick test or a filter. It’s an honest evaluation of what you can actually do.
📩 1. You’ll Get an Invite
You’ll receive an email or link to complete an assessment for a specific role. It’ll outline what the company is looking for, what tools are involved, and how much time you’ll need.
Some things to keep in mind:
You are allowed to leave and return to where you left off.
There is no time limit. We share expected time to complete, you may go over.
You can re-record any video questions, but this must be done before you move on to the next question.
We ask you to authenticate with LinkedIn or GitHub to help prevent interview/identity fraud.
🎥 2. Introduce Yourself
Before diving into the task, you’ll answer a few short video questions. This gives the team a sense of how you think, communicate, and approach the role—beyond what’s on your resume.
💻 3. Complete the Task
The core of the assessment is a real-world project, completed in a secure, preloaded coding environment.
You're free to use AI tools, web search, and copy/paste—as long as you understand what you're doing and the company allows it. The goal isn’t perfection. It’s clarity.
You’ll have a set amount of time, but you can start when it works for you.
🎙️ 4. Explain Your Thinking
After submitting, you’ll record a short video explaining your approach—what you built, why you made certain choices, and how you’d improve it with more time. It helps the hiring team understand how you think, not just what you wrote.
🧠 5. Get a SkillsProject Profile
Once you're done, you’ll receive a SkillsProject Profile—a snapshot of your work, scored and summarized with AI to show what you’re good at, how you work, and what roles you're ready for.
You can:
Share it with other companies
Use it in your job search (way better than a résumé)
Improve it by completing more challenges
This is your work. Your voice. Your proof.
Whether you get this job or not, your SkillsProject Profile goes with you.
